74HCT4067 Analog Multiplexer

An Excellent way to expand your A/D convertors I/O capability. Multiple Analog Inputs can be routed to a single Opamp or Analog Input of a uC or uP System. Use protection Zeners or clamping inputs.

The 74HC4067; 74HCT4067 is a single-pole 16-throw analog switch (SP16T) suitable for use in analog or digital 16:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. The switch features four digital select inputs (S0, S1, S2 and S3), sixteen independent inputs/outputs (Yn), a common input/output (Z) and a digital enable input (E). When E is HIGH, the switches are turned off. Inputs include clamp diodes.

This Mux is useful for making a Datalogger or Expanding the I/O of a PLC analog unit. A Multi-Point process scanner, an analog Sample and hold system are some ideas. If you have many testpoints to monitor an you have a Embedded System with one analog input then you could think of this. Remember to protect the inputs and isolate if required. Real world parameters pose real hazards.
